ANN SKINGLE 1800 - 1872

Ann Skingle was born at 9.am on Sunday Jan 5th 1800, Great Dunmow Essex. The Daughter of Thomas Skingle and Ann Tailor. Ann never married but remained a servant / housekeeper to John White who worked The Marsh Farm, she died in 1872.


THOMAS SKINGLE 1801 - 1881

Thomas Skingle born at 6.am on Tues Oct 20th 1801, Great Dunmow. The son of Thomas Skingle and Ann Tailor. Married Marthe D Broggref born 21st Oct 1802. Marraige took place On 29th May 1830, Kensington. In 1832 Martha gave birth to a daughter. Thomas's Occ in 1841; Clerk. Res; Church Street, Coggeshall. Occ in 1851; Accountant. Res; 33, Hampden Street, Bethnal Green. Thomas and Martha adopted their neice Emma Sarah Skingle, the daughter of Thomas's brother John and his wife Hephzibah Skingle, who had died in 1846 and 1848. leaving their three living children orphans Emma Sarah being the youngest. Thomas's Occ in 1851; Accountant. Res; 33, Hampden Street, Bethnal Green. Thomas's 1861 Occ; Schoolmaster. Marthe occ; Nurse Domestic. Res; 45, Alpher Road, Paddington. In 1871 Thomas returned to his old Occ; Accountant Res; 31, Bolton Road, Kensington. Marthe died 1st Oct 1875, Kensington. Thomas died on the 16th Jan 1881, at 21, Buckingham Terrace, Kensington. Thomas left a sum of less than 100 from his personal Estate to his married Grand daughter Emily J Fuller, Who was just one of his next of kin.

JOHN SKINGLE 1804 - 1848

John Skingle born at 10.am on Oct 15th 1804 Pancras. The son of Thomas Skingle and Ann Tailor. John was a Master Baker,when he married Hepzibah Ager born 24th Oct 1805, Christened 12th Feb 1806. The daughter of Philip Ager d.o.b 1773 (Occ; Baker) and Hepzibah Constable d.o.b 1780, of Braintree, Essex. The marraige took place on the 13th May 1830. At St Peter, Walworth, Surrey. They had five known children. John and Hepzibah resided at Tottenham, St Pancras, Marylebone. Hepzibah died 4th qtr 1846, St Pancras. John died 4th qtr 1848, St Pancras.

STEPHEN SKINGLE:1807- 1881

Stephen Skingle born 11.30pm on Mar 8th 1807, Great Dunmow. The son of Thomas Skingle and Ann Tailor. Married Elizabeth Bradfield, born 1809,of Wisbeach, Cambridge, on the 8th Aug 1833. Stephen and Elizabeth had six known children. Residence; in 1841, Parsonage Down, Great Dunmow. Stephen's Occupation was a : Cow Dealer. Stephen's Occ in 1857, Jobber. Stephen's Occ; 1861 Cow Dealer. Stephen's Occ; 1871 Dairyman, St Pancras. Stephen's occ; 1881 Milkman. Stephen died 7th July 1881, age 74, Dunmow. Elizabeth died 14th July 1891, St Saviours, Southwark.

JONAH SKINGLE 1809 - 1882

Jonah Skingle. born 13th Apr 1809, Dunmow, Essex. The Son of Thomas Skingle and Ann Tailor. Jonah married in 1829 to Luezar unknown born 1810, Grt Canfield. In 1841, Luezar and Jonah's Res was; New Street, Great Dunmow. Occ; Carrier.
In 1846 it was reported in The Ipswich Journal dated Saturday August 8th a newspaper of the time that Mr Jonah Skingle was on his way to Stanstead - Mountfitchett sitting on the back part of his wagon, his young son was driving and as they came close to the Greenman public house Takeley a horse tethered to a ladder on the wagon slipped his rope with such ferocity so as when Jonah tried to prevent the animal getting away by grabbing the rope it sliced his forefinger clean off at the second joint and badly damaged two others requiring all three to be amputated close to the knuckle joint of the right hand. The amputations were carried out by Surgeon Mr Coventry of Hatfield Broad Oak who happened to be in Takeley at the time and another medical man. In 1851 Jonah's Occ was a ;Toll keeper Great Canfield. Residence: 1881 Farm House, Stadhampton, Oxford. They had twelve children. Luezar died 4th qtr 1879, Wallingford. Jonah died 2nd qtr 1882, Dunmow.

MARY SKINGLE 1811 - 1861

Mary Skingle born at 4.pm on June 21st 1811, Great Dunmow Essex. The Daughter of Thomas Skingle and Ann Tailor. Mary was at her brother Isaac's house at the time of the 1861 census. she was unmarried and an invalid. Mary Skingle died 5th Oct 1861 Great Dunmow Essex.


SAMUEL SKINGLE 1813 - 1840

Samuel Skingle was born at 11.pm Monday 12th July 1813, Great Dunmow, Essex. The Son of Thomas Skingle and Ann Tailor. Samuel died 9th April 1840 Great Dunmow, Essex.


ELIZABETH SKINGLE 1816 - 1845

Elizabeth Skingle born at 8.pm on Friday 17th May 1816, Great Dunmow Essex. The Daughter of Thomas Skingle and Ann Tailor. Elizabeth died on Jun 25th 1845. Great Dunmow Essex.


MARTHA SKINGLE 1819 - 1840

Martha Skingle born at 1.40pm on Thursday 28th Jan 1819, Great Dunmow Essex. The Daughter of Thomas Skingle and Ann Tailor. Martha died Saturday Mar 14th 1840.


ISAAC SKINGLE 1821 - 1895

Isaac Skingle was born at 10.35pm Monday May 7th 1821, Great Dunmow, Essex. The Son of Thomas Skingle and Ann Tailor. Isaac married Susan Easter born 1824, The daughter of Isaac Easter his Occ; Wheel Wright. The marraige was on the 22nd Feb 1849, in the Parish of Great Dunmow, Essex. Witness's were Isaac's younger brother Joseph Skingle and Mary Ann Fuller. Isaac and Susan had five known children. Isaac's Occ; Carrier, Residence in 1861 was High Street, Great Dunmow. Susan died 1st qtr 1872, Dunmow. Isaac died 4th qtr 1895. Dunmow.

JOSEPH SKINGLE 1824 - 1867

Joseph Skingle was born at 9am on Friday 15th Jul 1824, Dunmow. The Son of Thomas Skingle and Ann Tailor. Joseph was a witness at his older brother Isaac's wedding to Susan Easter in 1849. 1861 census shows Joseph is a Lodger at the "Chequers" inn, Great Dunmow. Joseph died 1st qtr 1867, Dunmow.
